The Reported Problem
[/iconheading]
The call came in after a customer noticed the discoloration and water marks on the pipework near the boiler. There was also a slight staining on the floor where there had been a history of some old leakage.

The Solution
[/iconheading]
Safely discharging the water in the central Heating system so the pipework can be cut into, the section of pipe was removed and remade with new pipe, connections and finally filled again using a corrosion inhibitor.

The Result
[/iconheading]
The vulnerable pipe had originally been held together by a flake of the original solder and corrosion. Dry joints can hold together as long as the pressure remains low; however with the heating and cooling, slight expanding and contracting, its best to resolve these ‘Dry Joints’ when they are discovered as if they grow weak, the results can be damaging and expensive! The system was refilled using a corrosion inhibitor and the new section of pipe was proved to be sound.
